If you're new to tennis
or just new to our area,
the following suggestions should give you some tips on how to get started.......



ADULTS:
  • Beginners can try out the FUN, FRIENDS, AND FITNESS/TEAM TENNIS, the POTPOURRI ADULT CLINICS, or the LADIES BEGINNERS ADULT INSTRUCTION/TEAM TENNIS PROGRAM: click here, or browse below, for details
  • Find a court/ Join a club/ Take a lesson: Our "Courts/Lessons" page will show you around the courts
  • Play in a league: click here, or browse below, for leagues going on in the Lafayette area
  • Play in a tournament: check out our "Calendar" for dates


JUNIORS:
  • USTA JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS programs: beginner, intermediate, and high school team programs. A good way to learn, compete, and build your skills. From ages 6-18 and skill levels 1.0-5.0. You can jump in at any level of these Learn and Play programs.

  • Sign up for a kid's clinic: click on to our "Juniors" page or our calendar and find out more about kid's clinics
  • Find a court/ Join a club/ Take a lesson: Our "Courts/Lessons" page will show you around the courts
  • Check with your local schools. Ask your P.E. teacher about your school programs.

ADULT FUN, FRIENDS, AND FITNESS

This low-cost instructional program for adults of any age offers 12 hours of basic tennis instruction and games. It is generally conducted over a 6 week period. HAVE FUN, GET FIT, MEET PEOPLE, LEARN TO PLAY OR IMPROVE YOUR TENNIS FAST1!! Different tennis professionals from Acadiana will be teaching you each week. ADULT TEAM TENNIS

This is a follow up program for Fun, Friends, and Fitness. This is a way for adults who aren't quite ready to jump into league play and high level competition to play matches in a fun and friendly atmosphere. POTPOURRI ADULT CLINIC

This tennis course is designed for adults ages 18 -100, teaching basic tennis skills to new or returning adult players in a group environment. While having fun, exercising and meeting new people, it will also give them the skills, confidence and knowledge to begin playing tennis. LADIES BEGINNERS ADULT INSTRUCTION - TEAM TENNIS PROGRAM

April Fontana offers an extended 1-2-3 beginners instruction program for ladies only in the Fall. This is a fun, interactive program that lets you learn and play right from the beginning. You play with others players of your own level, with no intimidation, just lots of fun and social interaction. Learn from different area pros, and visit the different clubs and facilities. This is a 10-week program, which is held each MONDAY MORNING. She follows this up with a TEAM TENNIS program in the Spring. You can contact April at (337) 981-1207.

LAFAYETTE LADIES TENNIS LEAGUE:

The Lafayette Ladies Tennis League (LLTL) brings you the Ladies City League, or Day League, as some call it. This is a league that spans the Fall and Spring and is comprised of teams from Beaver Park, Thomas Park, Oakbourne Country Club, Red Lerille's Health Club, City Club at River Ranch, and Lafayette Health Club. The format is 5 courts of women's doubles and is played on weekday mornings.

LADIES SUMMER LEAGUE:

Ladies doubles only. Not team play. Find a partner and compete against other ladies doubles pairs throughout the summer.
Choose day league or night league and play one match a week for 10 weeks. Levels 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0. Top 16 doubles pairs in each level go to finals which are held the first weekend in August.
Matches played at Beaver and Thomas Parks. Entry forms available at Beaver Park around April 1.
