USTA TEAM TENNIS (YOUTH) is a 6-8 week program of team practice and match play for boys and girls, ages 6-18, who want to play tennis on teams. These "Learn and Play" programs are offered by the USTA, and brought to you locally by Acadiana Community Tennis Association. Teams are organized using the Junior National Tennis Rating Program (JNTRP) to match players of similar age and ability. These teams then compete against other teams from the same geographic region in one of three league divisions: Red, White, or Blue.

RED:

Ages 6-12

Level 1.0-2.5 (Beginner)
This division will use the "Ralleyball" format, which is quick and lots of fun for the little ones just beginning.

WHITE:

Ages 10-14

Level 2.5-4.5 (Beginner-Intermediate)

BLUE:

Ages 13-18

Level 1.0-5.0 (covers all skill levels for this High School team division)

All participants get to play on a team, practice with friends, and play matches together. All players have the opportunity to advance to district, sectional, and regional team competition. Players in the White and the Blue Divisions may qualify for Regional Championships typically held in the early Fall. Players in the Blue Division also may qualify to compete in the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic Games, a national event for USA Team Tennis.

All participants in USA Team Tennis are eligible to apply for and receive USTA Tennis Foundations College Educational Scholarships and Individual Player Scholarships.
Check out our "Calendar" page for dates of USTA JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS programs.

JUNIOR GRAND PRIX

This is a series of tournaments held in the Spring and the Fall, operated by the USPTA (US Professional Tennis Association) in conjunction with the Louisiana Tennis Association.

The Grand Prix provided competition for children in 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 year old age groups in both ranked and unranked divisions.

The purpose of the unranked division is to allow kids with no competitive tournament experience a chance to get their feet wet in the competitive arena. They learn about how to prepare for tournament play and gain on court experience before going for ranked status,

The ranked Grand Prix division allows for kids to compete for rankings within the Grand Prix circuit.

Grand Prix is a good way for kids with good tennis skills to find competition in their area. It can also serve as a good transitional level for kids wanting to continue on to USPTA Juniors Circuit.

Click on to the Louisiana Tennis Association Juniors website for more information. Or, of course, you can contact your local tennis professional...
