Private or group lessons for juniors and adults are available from tennis pros at Beaver Park as well as in all of the private clubs.

Beaver Park

Located at Bowles Tennis Center on Surrey Street just across from Lafayette's airport, Beaver Park offers 13 lighted courts - 8 rubico and 5 hard.

Beaver Park is part of Lafayette's Parks and Recreations Department. For courts, information, or instruction call 291-5564.

Leo Olivier is the Director of Tennis for Lafayette's Parks and Recreations Department. Leo gives individual and group lessons out of Beaver Park.



Also at Beaver park is Gus Rivera who was born and raised in Mexico City. Gus played college tennis at McNeese State University and played number one singles and doubles all four years. He has coached all levels, from beginners to top 20 players in the country, for more than 15 years. Contact Gus at 380-5394.





Thomas Park at 300 Geraldine is also part of Lafayette's Parks and Recreations Department and has eight lighted courts.

Red Lerille's Health Club

Located at 301 Doucet Road, Red's offers 20 lighted outdoor courts - 6 rubico and 14 hard. They also offer 3 indoor courts. Hours of operation are 5:00 am to 10:00 pm Monday through Thursday; 5:00am to 8:00 pm on Fridays; and 5:00 am to 7:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Red's is a full service health club as well and offers racquetball, weight training, women's and coed fitness, basketball court, group exercise programs, extensive exercise equipment, sauna, whirlpool, steam, 2 swimming pools, snack bar, pro shop, and even a nursery.

Dianne Lowings is the Director of Tennis at Red's. Dianne offers individual and group lessons as well as a junior program. Dianne came to Lafayette from Durban, South Africa. She played at University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) in 1985/86 and 1986/87. In 1986 she earned a national singles ranking of #76 and was named Louisiana Athletic Director Association's Athlete of the Year and Louisiana's Sportswriters Athlete of the Year. She then transferred to a nationally ranked team at the United States International University in San Diego. She has represented the South in the 25 and 35 Intersectional team tournaments. She is a certified professional of the USPTA.
Chris Mayer is a staff professional at Red's. He is a native of Lafayette. He was a nationally ranked junior player and has held the #1 ranking in LA in the Men's 30 singles. He is a certified professional of the USPTA and has over 15 years of experience.

Pontus Lavefalk is a native of Sweden and came to the U.S. in 1985 where he attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles as a four year letterman where he was later inaugurated into the Hall of Fame. Pontus is a USPTA Certified Professional and a Certified Professional in Sweden with over 17 years of teaching experience.

Oakbourne Country Club

Tennis Professionals:

Paul Griffith has been the Director of Tennis at Oakbourne Country Club for the past 20 years. He is a former player for the University of Louisiana and has been named the Louisiana Tennis Association Professional of the Year. During his career, Paul has coached and traveled with thousands of Louisiana juniors. His program has helped develop juniors into state, southern, high school and college champions.

Meg Cook played at University of LA for 4 years prior to becoming the head coach there for 6 years. She led the Lady Cajuns to multiple winning seasons, both as player and as coach. Meg has been coaching both state and southern champions in the Lafayette area for more than 20 years.

City Club at River Ranch

The City Club at River Ranch tennis facility offers 13 lighted courts.There are 2 hard courts with the remainder being rubico courts which employ a state of the art underground watering system.

The tennis facility also offers a pro shop with tennis apparel and gear. Also at the pro shop are a swimming pool, hot tub, grill, and locker room with showers. All facilities as well as tennis instruction from the staff pros are available to City Club members.

Tennis Programs
The Professional Staff at River Ranch offer all levels of instructions from pee-wee to adult, from beginner to advanced. Adult team lessons are also available. "From top seeded players to beginners, our club offers the very best the sport has to offer. It's the best way we know to meet with friends and get in shape at the same time."

Ashley Rhoney was born and raised in Hickory, N.C. Ashley has been the director of tennis at City Club since its inception in the summer of 2001. Rhoney was a two-time All American at the University of LA at Lafayette from 1987-1988 and had world rankings in singles and doubles on the professional level.


Gus Rezende, assistant pro, was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Rezende has worked full time at City Club since May 2004. A graduate of Georgia South Western, he has wins over two top ATP 100 ranked players in the world.

Chad Hebert is currently the Head Tennis Professional at the City Club at River Ranch, in charge of all Junior Development Programs. Prior to working at the City Club, Hebert served as the Head Tennis Coach at Troy State University in Troy, Alabama where he broke all school records for career wins and wins in a season. He was also named the 2000 College Coach of the Year by the USPTA. Prior to Troy State, Hebert served as the Assistant Tennis Coach for our own University of Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. Coach Hebert has also directed and instructed at numerous camps in New York, Tennessee. Florida, and Texas. Chad is also available for adult instruction.

New Iberia City Park - The park has 5 lighted hard courts and is located on Park View Drive. Lesson are available daily from Kyli Lassalle.

Kyli Lassalle, Director of Tennis at New Iberia City Park, was born and raised in New Iberia, LA. Kyli was ranked first in LA, ranked in the top 20 in the south and top 100 in the nation as a junior player.
